Award winning writer of nonfiction, my latest book is How to Travel with Your Demons, and latest anthology is Credo. I’m the Project Editor for Angel’s Flight* literary west, and I also curate and produce salons. More about that later.

I also write, edit, and create content for digital media companies/publications. My wheelhouse is pop culture, feminism, health, business, and tech. One of my favorite projects is a reported piece  for The Daily Beast, in collaboration with National Geographic. The Elements of Style is my Bible. RECENT NEWS/EVENTS

In March 2020, in association with Angel’s Flight * literary west, I created a workshop called 30 Days: Journaling Through Catastophe. For 30 consecutive days, I posted a prompt and the participants responded. I wanted to create a public, generative document that reflected the strangeness of life during a pandemic. 

In September 2020, I was a finalist in the international compeition for ME & MY MASKS: A FESTIVAL OF MONOLOGUES. It was sponsored by Roland Tec, a member of New York Theater Workshop. The ZOOM Pandemic Peformance was held on Labor Day, 2020 and co-produced by the Dallas Arts Theater Center. My monologue was performed by Kate Weiman, it is called “Angelica on the Balcony.” Here is a link for her amazing performance on YouTube.

 

As Project Editor for Angel’s Flight * literary west, I co-produced, with Michele Raphael (Founder), the first AFLW East Coast Salon at KGB on May 30th.Writers: Jennifer Baker, Alison Kinney, Ysabel Y. Gonzalez, Michael J Seidlinger, Tobias Carroll, and Marnie Goodfriend. Also in attendance, Rosanna Arquette and friends.

My essay, “This Is How You Say Goodbye” was recently published by Longreads. I’ve been nominated twice for Best of the Web 2014 and 2016, a Pushcart Prize, winner of the Gigantic Sequins prize for fiction, and a finalist for the Glass Women Award. I also produced a reading series: BEDLAM: New Work by Women Writers at the infamous KGB/The Red Room in New York City with some insanely talented women; including Allison Wright, Tanwi Nandini Islam, Michele Raphael, Tiphanie Yanique and Christen Clifford.

My other books are The Blue Hours, and The Erotica Project, co-author, Erin Cressida Wilson. My work has been reviewed in The New York Times, The Village Voice, Art in America, The New Yorker, The Daily News, The New York Post, Time Out, The Guardian, and The Daily Telegraph. I  have an MA from New York University/The Gallatin School in literary theory, and writing.

PERFORMANCE

I produced and wrote award winning programming for radio; WBAI (New York City) including a monthly arts magazine, Mad Women for Modern Times, featuring performers like Deborah Margolin and Marlene Forte. For National Public Radio (Washington, D.C.), I co-wrote and produced, with director Erica Gould, and a grant from the University of Michigan, 6 episodes of Lost Voices, a series that resurrected stories lost to the dominant narrative;  including the witch hunts of the 16th century, the first black theater company in New York City, and a burlesque performer in the early 20th century.

The Erotica Project , co author, Erin Cressida Wilson, was originally produced on WBAI, as part of my arts programming. It moved to HERE Performance Art Space, and landed at Joe’s Pub at The Public Theater, directed by John Gould Rubin. It was also also performed in San Francisco, Seattle and London.

My other full length plays such as Rough/House, Epiphanies, Girl Trouble,  A Witch’s Triptych, Sweet Willy’s Red Eye Bar and Grill were produced/developed at Labyrinth Theater, Circle Rep, Playwright’s Horizons, Naked Angels, New York Theater Workshop, New Georges, One Dream Theater, 45th Street Playhouse, Rattlestick, Performance Space 122.  I was awarded two residencies to support this work: Millay Colony for the Arts, and The William Flanagan Center/The Edward Albee Foundation.
